Deputy Director of Communications
Betsey Hodges is an experienced strategic communications professional. After working in the television news industry researching and producing investigative news stories, Betsey spent more than a decade at several international public affairs/public relations firms. There she developed and executed multi-faceted communications plans on behalf of clients on issues such as environmental regulation, international trade, consumer privacy, health care, energy and technology. For the past eight years, she has worked as Communications Director to State Senator Ted Gaines, whose First Senate District includes Siskiyou County. Betsey has served as a key advisor to the Senator on media strategy; placed news stories and opinion editorials in local, state and national media outlets; managed the Senator’s social media platforms and website; produced original content ranging from press materials to videos; and coordinated all of the Senator’s media and constituent-facing events. She lives in Sacramento with her husband and two children.
