Matt Cox

Director of Communications

Matt Cox is an experienced policy, political and communications professional. After working as a policy fellow in education studies for the Pacific Research Institute, Mr. Cox spent years as a speechwriter for Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, where he planned and executed large parts of the Governor’s communications program. Mr. Cox served as a policy advisor to candidate Meg Whitman in a variety of areas, and he also provided oversight on key messaging assignments. For the past 8 years, he has served as Senior Consultant to State Senator Ted Gaines, whose First Senate District includes Siskiyou County. Mr. Cox has provided the Senator with policy and political advice, served as a liaison between the Senator and his constituents, coordinated the legislative package, served as a proxy at public events, and written the Senator’s original content. Mr. Cox’s work has appeared in the San Francisco Chronicle, Yahoo!, The Sacramento Bee, Investor’s Business Daily, National Review Online and other publications. He lives in Folsom with his wife and three daughters.
